Damnoen Saduak Floating Market
Located around 100 kms from Bangkok Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is the bigest floating market in Thailand.
May be in the past it was worth of visiting this place but now is infected with tourists and its mere existence is to be one of the worst tourist traps in the country.
Normally you book a day trip from your hotel in Bangkok. The price is quite expensive, but you think it will be a great journey. Unfortunately a small van picks you up from the hotel just to get into a big bus with plenty of other people who ate the bait.
A first stop in a coconut oil factory in the way to the market made us suspicious, then you arrive to a long boat deck where an endless line of these machines are waiting to navigate you though the channels.
But the nice pictures you saw in your travel guide of people approaching your boat to sell their merchandise or your boat gently by the side of a nice food stall are that "just pictures"
Instead you arrive to a concrete structure plenty of shops and food stalls. Everything that you will find is pure crap, the same you can buy in any other market.
A great deception that is shared with almost all the people who visited the place.
Our advice, take a tour in the Chao Praya river, cheaper, nicer and less time consuming.
